The four methods for changing over from one information system to another are:
1.Direct cutover
2.Parallel
3.Pilot
4.Phased
1.DIRECT CUTOVER:- In this the new system is installed and quickly brought to operational status. It is also sometimes called immediate cutover and this method is simple.Because the old and new system arent operated in parallel. The main disadvantage with this method is its risk.Because older system are not operated in parallel.Direct cutover is typically used under the new system is not replacing an older system.coming to CHIS in older system the health centres maintain records manually and if the records were lost then the details will be lost.
2.PARALLEL:-The parallel operation method that operates both the old and new systems for an extended time period. In this method the old system ideally continues to operate until the new system has been thoroughly tested and to be error-free and ready to operate independently. With this method in health centres should note all the details regarding the visit of the child before the child visits for the treatment. This parallel is generally best when the consequences of a system failure are severe.
3.PILOT:-The pilot method involves in implementing the new system at a particular place. This method is less cost than a parallel. It is a combination of both direct cutover and parallel. The system in CHIS with this pilot method the health centres should note all the details before and they should store them in old and systems.
4.PHASED:-In this method the system is installed and brought into a series of phases. The new system will operate the existing systems multiple and the new system replaces the two existing systems. The main disadvantage with this method is reduced risk.
