THE FOUR MAINTENANCE TASKS ARE:

                      1.CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE

                      2.ADAPTIVE MAINTENANCE

                      3.PERFECTIVE MAINTENANCE

                      4.PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

The four maintenance tasks used in the small business press’s in the new ARCIS are:

1.CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE:-

The corrective maintenance diagnoses and it fix logic errors. It refers defective network cabling. The best maintenance approach is a scaled down version of the sdlc itself, where the investigation ,analysis before implementing the solution. In this requests receive a high priority and a maintenance team begins work on the problem immediately. In small business press’s new ARCIS the corrective maintenance fixes the problems and they debug the code of the program and then update the software required.

2.ADAPTIVE MAINTENANCE:-

Adaptive maintenance adds enhancements to an operational system and makes system easy.An enhancement is a new feature and this maintenance is similar as corrective maintenance.A major adaptive maintenance program is like a small business press new sls because  the development method is same. And in this press this maintenance creates new reports.

3.PERFECTIVE MAINTENANCE:-

This maintenance changes the operational system to make it more efficient and reliable. It also can improve system reliability. In the small business new ARCIS ,a system is easier to maintain ,support is less costly. This maintenance is less valuable in its benefits if the press already plans to discontinue the system. In a small business press if the system uses perfective maintenance the analysts use a technique called software engineering.

4.PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE:-

In a system ,it solves the problems, this maintenance requires analysis of areas where trouble is likely to occur. This maintenance often occurs when in an increased user satisfaction and reduced downtime. In this small business this maintenance tightens all the required cable connections.

The four methods for changing over from one information system to another are:

                1.Direct cutover

                2.Parallel

                3.Pilot

                4.Phased

1.DIRECT CUTOVER:- In this the new system is installed and quickly brought to operational status. It is also sometimes called immediate cutover and this method is simple.Because the old and new system arent operated in parallel. The main disadvantage with this method is its risk.Because older system are not operated in parallel.Direct cutover is typically used under the new system is not replacing an older system.coming to CHIS in older system the health centres maintain records manually and if the records were lost then the details will be lost.

2.PARALLEL:-The parallel operation method that operates both the old and new systems for an extended time period. In this method the old system ideally continues to operate until the new system has been thoroughly tested and to be error-free and ready to operate independently. With this method in health centres should note all the details regarding the visit of the child before the child visits for the treatment. This parallel is generally best when the consequences of a system failure are severe.

3.PILOT:-The pilot method involves in implementing the new system at a particular place. This method is less cost than a parallel. It is a combination of both direct cutover and parallel. The system in CHIS with this pilot method the health centres should note all the details before and they should store them in old and systems.

4.PHASED:-In this method the system is installed and brought into a series of phases. The new system will operate the existing systems multiple and the new system replaces the two existing systems. The main disadvantage with this method is reduced risk.

Shelly,G,Chasman,T & Rosenblatt,H 2007,System analysis and design,7th edition,Thomson Course Technology,Boston.

In this book author explains in detail various approaches to development of information system .It explains in detail traditional and object oriented approach of system analysis and design. It also compares the traditional and object oriented approaches .It also explains many design models like DFD’s Data dictionaries, ERD’s , etc many more that help  the designing a model for the business requirement in an organization. These are the methods used by traditional approach. ,
